The role of CSIR-CLRI in scientific industrial research space of India is very focused. Objective of the institute is to meet the needs of the leather and allied sectors through research, technology development and transfer, training and industrial support and formulation of policies and plan of action that ensures a technology based competitive advantage for Indian leather
Leather technology, which deals with tanning raw hides and skins and finishing the tanned leather to impart to it the specific properties which it should have to be suitable for making particular types of leather articles either for military or civilian use, although very old, is still making progress.
Its progress has been due to the application of various branches of science to it and research which is being carried out to explain the principles underlying the old craft of tanning, to throw light on the mechanism whereby the profound change viz., the conversion of putrescible raw hides and skins into imputrescible and permanent leather is brought about to improve the old techniques of leather manufacture and to work out new techniques with the help of modern science and machinery

CSIR-CLRI desires to engage talented candidates as Project Associates / Junior Research Fellows on temporary basis different projects tenable at CLRI as per qualification, age etc., detailed in the table below:
1. Position: Junior Research Fellow
2. No of Post: 01
3. Qualification: M.Sc in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Medical Biochemistry/ Animal Sciences/ Bio-Technology from a recognized University/ Institute with CSIR-UGC, NET including lectureship (Assistant. Professorship) (OR) M.Tech or M.Pharm in Biotechnology/ Biopharmaceutical Technology/ Pharmaceutical Sciences/ Pharmaceutics/ Genetic Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute with GATE
4. Tenure: 01 year
5. Monthly emoluments: Rs.31,000/- plus HRA
1. Position: Project Associate – I
2. No of Post: 01
3. Qualification:
a) Essential: MCA or B.E/ B.Tech in Computer Science/ Information Technology from a recognized University/ Institutev
b) Desirable: Candidates having experience in the area of Artificial Intelligence and proficiency in or more software products viz. Scripting in Python/ PHP or working knowledge in database design, web enable applications and portal designing will be given preference.

5. Monthly emoluments: Rs.25,000/- plus HRA

a) Essential: M.Pharma from a recognized University/ Institute.
b) Desirable: Candidates having 1st class in M.Pharma and experience in drug discovery/ computational drug discovery will be given preference

5. Monthly emoluments: Rs.25,000/- plus HRA
1. Position: Project Associate – I

3. Qualification:
a) Essential: B.E/ B.Tech in Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute.
b) Desirable: Candidates having M.E/M.Tech in Biotechnology with a valid GATE score and Research experience in the field of Protein amino acid, enzymatic bio-diesel, recovery using leather solid waste will be given preference
4. Tenure: 01 year
5. Monthly emoluments: Rs.31,000/- plus HRA (with GATE) (OR) Rs.25,000/- plus HRA (without GATE)
1. Position: Junior Research Fellow
2. No of Post: 01
3. Qualification:
a) Essential: M.Sc Chemistry (Organic, Inorganic, Analytical, General) from a recognized University/ Institute with – CSIRUGC, NET including lectureship (Assistant. Professorship) (OR) M.E/ M.Tech Chemical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute with GATE
b) Desirable: Experience in ionic liquids, process and product development, separation techniques, protein chemistry
4. Tenure: 01 year
5. Monthly emoluments: Rs.31,000/- plus HRA

a) Essential: B.E/ B.Tech in Civil/ Chemical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute
b) Desirable: Candidates having M.E/ M.Tech in Environmental Engineering/ Environmental Management and Research experience in the field of Protein amino acid, enzymatic biodiesel, recovery using leather solid waste will be given preference will be given preference

a) Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical/ Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Medical Electronics from recognized University/ Institute
b) Desirable: Selected through CSIR-UGC, NET including lectureship (Assistant. Professorship) or GATE or National level exams conducted by CSIR/ DBT/ DST/ ICMR/ IIT/ IISc/ IISER/ UGC/ ICAR etc.,
4. Tenure: 01 year
5. Monthly emoluments: Rs.31,000/- plus HRA (with NET/GATE) (OR) Rs.25,000/- plus HRA (without NET/GATE)
Walk-in Interview: Candidates fulfilling the above mentioned qualification, age etc., may attend the Walk-in Interview scheduled on 27.04.2022 at 09:00 AM onwards at CSIRCentral Leather Research Institute, Sardar Patel Road, Adyar, Chennai – 600020 along with application form and supporting documents.
