Educational Qualifications: Any Degree
Requires a university degree and a broad background in all aspects of warehouse operations with previous warehouse management or supervisory experience.
Has good human relations and communications (oral and written) skills, and makes independent decisions with very little direct supervision.
Knowledge and willingness to learn Positive Management Initiatives (PMI) and prevailing government requirements and local customs and practices is desirable.
Typically requires more than 5 years of related logistics’ or other relevant experience.
Direct reports typically may include section manager, logistics planning engineer and team leads. This position is primarily responsible for meeting logistics operations at the warehouses and Caterpillar production facilities.
Manages logistics operations to achieve key performance metrics and financial targets (costs, budgets) This position is responsible for logistics operation processes which include people leadership, safety, inventory accuracy, logistics budgets, continuous improvement projects and internal stakeholder management. Major functions include receiving, storage, kitting, sub-assembly, order filling, packing, shipping, process quality, inventory counts, supplier scheduling, returns and related functions.
Works with management team to develop/review operational procedures and quality plans to ensure the operation complies with local government requirements.
Develops and implements operations changes to reduce costs and/or improve efficiency.
Provides direction and guidance for continuous quality improvements, develops and implements operation changes to reduce costs and/or improve efficiency utilizing 6 Sigma methodology and resources.
Responsible for all employee related activities of the facility. Works with HR manager, when appropriate, to recruit, select, develop and train staff. Prepares SMART goal objectives. If operating in a union facility, partners with HR manager to participate in labor contract negotiations and administer that agreement with the hourly workforce. If non-Union facility, works closely with HR Assistant, Corporate HR to advance positive management initiatives.
Promotes/supports day-to-day operational and safety issues with support of management team. Works closely with management team to determine methods to monitor the facility, participate in contract negotiations and related security matters.
Develops and manages within the annual Business Plan to meet client needs and satisfaction, ensuring contractual performance standards are met and financial targets including Sales, Profit, Availability and ROA are achieved.
Builds a relationship with the client(s) and the community.
Responsible for becoming a strategic business partner and growing/developing his/her facility in line with Logistics strategies/vision.
