About Company :
Nike, originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports (BRS), was founded by University of Oregon track athlete Phil Knight and his coach, Bill Bowerman, on January 25, 1964. The company initially operated in Eugene, Oregon as a distributor for Japanese shoe maker Onitsuka Tiger, making most sales at track meets out of Knight’s automobile.
According to Otis Davis, a University of Oregon student-athlete coached by Bowerman and Olympic gold medalist at the 1960 Summer Olympics, his coach made the first pair of Nike shoes for him, contradicting a claim that they were made for Phil Knight. According to Davis, “I told Tom Brokaw that I was the first. I don’t care what all the billionaires say. Bill Bowerman made the first pair of shoes for me. People don’t believe me. In fact, I didn’t like the way they felt on my feet. There was no support and they were too tight. But I saw Bowerman made them from the waffle iron, and they were mine”.
In its first year in business, BRS sold 1,300 pairs of Japanese running shoes grossing $8,000. By 1965, sales had reached $20,000. In 1966, BRS opened its first retail store at 3107 Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica, California. In 1967, due to increasing sales, BRS expanded retail and distribution operations on the East Coast, in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor, master and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or other chemical related disciplines.
• 2+ years direct relevant work experience .
• Footwear experience preferred; Experience in other related industries like tires, polyurethane, plastics manufacturing, etc. may also be considered.
• Fluent in written and verbal English.
• Strong problem solving, data analysis and communication skills.
• Natural curiosity and drive for continuous improvement.
• Ability to be part of complex initiatives and project teams.
• Passion for sustainability and continues improvement.

Job Description :
Ensure product quality through the application of innovative technologies and processes to enable transition of programs to the inline or manufacturing space.
• Support strategic chemical and sustainable projects aligned with the global chemical and engineering initiatives.
• Generate tests, analyze data, draw conclusions, and make subsequent process or product recommendations or briefs of assigned projects.
• Solve general engineering problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Assist in presenting concepts and solutions at the functional level.
• Develop future-ready skills and competencies and provide general day to day working guidance to factory partners.
• Support new chemical facility ramp up while ensuring consistent quality.
• Participate in validation of cutting-edge technology and confirm manufacturing readiness.
• Be accountable for ensuring factory’s progress against Nike strategic goals and adherence to Nike’s manufacturing and quality standards.
• Work with Nike leadership and factory teams to ensure the best practices are implemented at our factories.
• Utilize chemical and process engineering knowledge and apply research towards the design, development, and scale up of new products and processes with the highest quality.
• Perform product and process development engineering work in one or more general engineering functions, including chemical, material, innovation and mechanical, etc.
• Provide expertise in bottom technology within the product creation teams during the development phase to resolve potential manufacturing, efficiency or costing concerns.
• Ability to deliver a tested and proven product to the market.
