Supplier Quality Engineer, Mobility
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.
- Conducts technical and quality assessments at suppliers utilizing inputs: supplier ratings, 8Ds, plant site requirements, new product technologies required etc. Track open issues and noncompliance elements to closure.
- Raising New CAR in e-SP for the supplier quality issues raised by user and booking right rejection quantity for follow up and cost recovery if any. Following for effective CAR closure with supplier as per Gates’s timeline requirement and reporting along with the closure effectiveness monitoring for certain period. Sharing supplier scorecards as per Gates defined timeline.
- As a preventive measure, periodical process and product audit plan & adherence. This will help to maintain & improve the supplier process and quality controls without major gaps that might affect Gates and Gates customer severely.
- Part layout inspection cum validation plan and adherence as per defined frequency in AOI and reporting.
- Periodical PFMEA review with supplier for improvement and reporting.
- Collecting & monitoring process capability results as per defined frequency in AOI and reporting.
- Organizing supplier calls with relevant team members from Gates to have clear alignment on our quality requirements and adherence.
- Monitoring supplier quality performance metrics and organize for poor performance supplier review in defined frequency with supplier top management and Gates relevant stake holders
- Daily interactions with relevant stakeholders to understand the quality requirements and cascade to suppliers accordingly. Similarly cascade supplier request if any to Gates team to ensure proper alignment and approval in place accordingly.
- Should always look for the opportunity to implement more POKE YOKES, KAIZEN, COST SAVING improvements in supplier process and should drive for effective implementation.
- Handling supplier deviation request and supplier change request process if any
- Provide Quality Core Tools trainings to suppliers for their improvement and adherence to the Gates/customer quality requirements.
- Handle right escalation process within supplier and Gates to overcome any major challenges/crisis situation.
- Interacts closely with cross functional team including Operations, SCM & Commercial and Co-ordinates with overseas affiliates.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:The incumbent reports to Senior Manager – Supplier Quality Assurance, Global Mobility and support him in all day-to-day operations to achieve the business objectives of the company & functions as an individual contributor. QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical)
- Work experience of 2~ 5 years with experience in a supplier quality assurance (SQA) environment with an Automotive / Auto component Manufacturing Company.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong oral and written English communication skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with staff at all levels good presentation skills
- Math and basic computer usage skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Manufacturing process & ISO/IATF 16949 QMS audits skill sets
- A strong working knowledge of the quality assurance tools (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, DOE, SPC, etc) needed in supplier quality. A strong working knowledge of problem solving tools (KANBAN, Poka-Yoke, 8-D).
- Broad knowledge of various manufacturing processes, understanding manufacturing capabilities and limitations of various processes, and commodities as they apply to Gates products.
- Having work experience in Aluminum casting(HPDC),machining ,painting is the key advantage for this role.
- Able to work to deadlines a willingness to work flexibly
- Should be self-initiative & Self- driven personality and bring innovative ideas in order to meet & sustain the quality goals and processes.
Senior Engineer – Quality
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.
- Implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance
- Ensure that all in-house systems and procedures are updated, revised and modified to meet the needs of external certification bodies
- Respond to customer complaints putting in containment actions, full analysis, poka-yokes (error proofing), and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures
- Champion a program for the implementation and sustainment of a continuous improvement culture
- Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns in new customer contracts
- Ensure that all necessary systems and procedures are in place to satisfy all customer requirements and audits
- Introduce new systems and procedures where appropriate
- Train others in all aspects of the quality system and application of procedures
- Undertake internal and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Management of the Quality Engineers and Technicians in the sign-off of parts and the resolution of internal/external quality concerns
- Establish and refine quality sign-off instructions, standards, and documentation
- Report against agreed quality metrics monthly basis
- Lead regular inspection meetings with representatives from appropriate departments to establish an action plan for improving build quality
- In conjunction with the Supplier Quality Assurance function, reduce the effect of non-conforming supplier materials on the production area quality
- Produce written reports and make presentations and Undertake continuous training and development
- Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required
- Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
- Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports

- Must have bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering or other related with minimum experience of 5 Years in the manufacturing field
REQUIRED SKILLS: Must be capable of assessing production/design problem correctly and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
- Must have good organizational, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Must possess on-hand knowledge of GD&T drawings, dimensioning, and gauging/measuring practices. A fundamental and thorough knowledge of product component to assembly and customer application is required.
- Must possess advanced statistical skills; design for experiments, process flow charts, failure mode and effect analysis, control plans, gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for problem solving.
- Must be able to organize multiple tasks to meet established deadlines and have good computer skills.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, Project, etc
